To find new categories, I go to and comb through their series for upcoming books in the Desire and Presents lines. At a smaller word count, it means I can fit them into my tight schedule more readily. With the recent increase in my workload, I’ve started reading category romances more frequently. If I like your writing, it tells me we may have similar tastes in stories. I usually tap authors whose work I love to read to find my next book.

So, book recs are essential for me to find a satisfying read to fill what little free time I have. As an author with deadlines, I don’t have as much spare time to read as I’d like.
As you can tell, I love books! And if you’re looking for a way to support an author, there is no better way than to say to a friend, “Let me tell you about this book.” When I’m stuck and cannot find the book that fits my mood, I start texting friends and asking, “What are you reading?” Books are a wonderful way to get to know one another, to enrich a friendship, and to touch base with a loved one. It’s been a wonderful stress reliever for me, and I look forward to logging on and seeing what everyone is saying about this month’s book. I find it’s helpful, too, to have a romance reading buddy (or more) with similar reading tastes to you. By lurking (yes, I’m a lurker) in regular conversation about romance and by getting a peak at the bookstore back end, I get to see and learn about many upcoming releases as well as get reminders and recommendations for older books as well. And because I help out with book ordering for the store, I have access to some of the bookseller resources for finding new books. I also have a great community of romance readers in my life in the form of the Rebel Heart Books bookstore romance book club (which is led by two Harlequin greats, Caitlin Crews and Maisey Yates!), where I get lots of reading ideas via group text. I read lists, get books-related news in my daily news feed, explore blogs, and follow book-focused social media accounts. I think that hunger is what drives me to devour the backlist of a new-to-me-author and to voraciously hunt for new stories to get lost in.
